Based on the outskirts of St Helens, within close proximity to the M62 and A580 this SME who focus in the service sector currently have a turnover of £75m. In a period of exceptional growth they have been established for over 30 years and are now looking for a Finance Lead to assist in the strategic direction and rollout of business plans to enhance the revenue streams of the organisation.
With a dynamic and forward thinking SLT, the business are already tracking to double current turnover in 2026. Your New Role As Finance Director:
Reporting directly to the MD you shall take the reigns of the finance function. Working alongside the SLT to develop strategy and direction, your role shall drive change, ensure the provision of detailed and meaningful financial data and also develop controls and procedures. As Finance Director you shall manage and motivate the team (currently 8 members) to ensure the accounting process is slick, accurate and efficient. Enabling the decision making process you shall partner the commercial team and work closely with stakeholders in the budget and forecasting process across the group of business entities. As Finance Director you shall look to enable effective cash flow, guiding on funding options and enhancing the decision making process on cash management. Developing the FC, you shall ensure they take ownership of the month-end process and related financial reporting, whilst you look to develop process and procedure as the business continues to grow.
Key Role Duties:
• Ensure the production and close of Month-end accounts including financial analysis and reporting, adding the final detail and commentary to the board pack.
• Management of the group budget and forecasting process
• Business partnering with stakeholders across the wider group through effective reporting and concise communication
• Presentation of reports to board members, senior executives, and board members
• Cash flow management
• Payroll management (utilising the heads in finance to process)
• Supervision across the finance department staff. Setting objectives and monitoring progress
• Development and review across current business processes/procedures to ensure robust internal controls
• Supporting the audit process, liaising where required, this includes delivery and monitoring of the annual audit schedules
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Cost management with related reporting and analysis
• Continual focus to streamline and improve all operations, utilising accounting systems at all times.
• Ensure compliance to all relevant financial/accounting regulations
Experience & Qualifications Required To Apply:
QBE, Fully Qualified (CIMA ACA ACCA) you shall have operated in a similar business at a senior level. With working knowledge of a larger ERP software you shall have strong management skills and the ability to identify areas for development. With a proven track record of challenging process, you shall have the confidence to initiate and drive change. A strong analytical and problem-solving professional you will have the ability to motivate people to optimise performance and productivity. Solid in the numbers and hands-on in your day to day, this role will suit a driven leader who is looking to add value in a fast-paced, ever changing organisation. With a focus on cash management and strategy, you shall have experience of driving initiatives and influencing others.
