Job Overview:
The Senior Transport Co-ordinator will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing our transport fleet's day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for co-ordinating and supervising the activities of the transport team across multiple sites, ensuring timely delivery of goods both internally and externally, maintaining compliance with legal regulations, and contributing to process improvements for increased efficiency.
Responsibilities and Duties
Oversee scheduling and dispatching of transport vehicles to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods.
Monitor the performance of the transport team offering training or guidance as necessary.
Develop and implement transport strategies and systems that optimize operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, clients, and internal departments to ensure co-ordinated activities and communication.
Ensure compliance with legal requirements, transport regulations, and health and safety standards.
Manage transport-related expenses and maintain budgetary controls, seeking cost-reduction opportunities without compromising service quality.
Address and resolve transport issues or grievances, ensuring operational excellence and superior customer service.
Stay abreast of advancements in transport technology and methodologies, proposing and implementing changes as appropriate.
Prepare and analyse various reports on transport activities, performance metrics, and operational costs.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of transport processes through strategic planning and innovative solutions.
Participate in Company stock take.
Co-ordinating transport docs.
Experience / Qualifications
Excellent IT skills – including Epicor/ SAP & Excel.
Good communication and written skills.
Problem solving.
Attention to detail.
Exposure to Lean Principles.
Team player.
Ability to understand all of the products & services, with emphasis on Rail.
Understanding of ERP Systems & Principles, Epicor / SAP or Other.
Experience of MRP.
