An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant (Pensions) who will play an important role within the Bedfordshire Pension Fund.
The role, reporting to the Manager for Pensions Finance, will support all investment and accounting aspects for the pension fund and manage the work programme of the Financial Analyst and Contributions Assistant.
The post holder will provide expert advice on technically demanding and complex finance and investment matters to the Council in its role as Administering Authority and will liaise with external advisors, fund managers, Border to Coast and auditors to deliver the programme of work.
Specific responsibilities include assisting the development and implementation of the Pension Fund’s responsible investment strategy and reporting, closing the Pension Fund accounts, preparing the annual report, managing operating cashflows and currency accounts, working with other partner funds and assisting the transition of investments to Border to Coast. There is a major focus on stewardship so a key aspect of the role will be the development and implementation of Environmental Social and Governance reporting, engagement with stakeholders and exercising rights and responsibilities.

You will have a good track record of managing a team, and expert knowledge accounting. It is desirable but not essential that you have experience of investments and the Local Government Pension Scheme. You must be able to work at pace and have excellent communication skills as you will be writing and presenting reports to members and senior officers regularly.
The role is full-time (37 hours), though applications for part-time working will be considered. The Council is committed to offering you a good work-life balance, which includes its flexitime and agile working arrangements, including working from home. The team work flexibly both in terms of hours and place. Two days a week is expected to be spent in the office as a minimum, though there is the option to work in the office every day if desired.
