Location: #LI-Hybrid London office (3 days a week)

About the role:

The Therapeutic Area Head Cardiovascular leads all commercial activities for the Cardio Therapeutic Area (TA). (S)he is accountable for developing strategy, operational plans, launch preparation and execution, achieving targets on sales and patient market share growth for the portfolio.
As a member of the Leadership Team (s)he is also responsible for contributing to the overall strategic direction and success of the UK.

Key responsibilities:

• Leads the Cardiovascular TA
• Manages and develops the overall strategy of the TA’s current and future product portfolio
• Drives & delivers on sales performance, growth and revenue
• Builds long-term partnerships with the TA-related external stakeholders, to deliver joint value
• Drives customer-centric new commercial models in cooperation with other Novartis functions
• Builds and inspires strong cross-functional teams, coaching teams to clearly identify strategic issues and priorities
• Stakeholder management across the Novartis leadership (in and above country) to deliver ongoing visibility and focus of the priority brands within Cardiovascular and continue to champion the population health directive for CVD
• Talent identification, development and capability building
• Demonstrates enterprise leadership as key member of the UK Leadership Team

Role Requirements

• University degree in bioscience, medicine, business, and/or relevant field
• Preference given to existing Business Unit/Therapreutic Area Head experience with a P&L greater than £80-£100 million
• Deep knowledge and experience of the UK healthcare system (NHS)
• Significant experience in cardiovascular therapy area and/or primary care at country level
• Proven ability to build strong long-term partnerships with TA-related external and internal senior stakeholders, to deliver joint value
• Successfully delivered top & bottom-line targets (significant P&L responsibility)
• Deep business acumen and proven understanding of product launch and commercialisation processes
• Direct leadership experiences of a large, complex teams
• Significant experience working with local and regional/global commercial, medical and access teams
• Proactive and creative leader willing to try new approaches and models
