Job Description:

  1. Position Summary Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role of the Project Engineer is to provide technical support to the Business in order to ensure that all projects executed meet functional requirements, within budget, to target date completion and to appropriate safety and quality targets.
  2. Responsibilities:
    1. Leading and managing a multi-disciplinary portfolio of projects to deliver project objectives in a structured and efficient manner and in line with the project programme to support delivery of SDO strategy.
    2. Providing clear and sustained leadership on the 5x Phases of Project Management: Project Conception & Initiation, Definition & Planning, Launch & Execution, Performance & Control, and Project Close.
    3. Leading and engaging end users in the development of engineering scope.
    4. Oversee all aspects of project management and delivery of scopes of work.
    5. Change Management – develop the case for change, assess the business impacts and develop a change management plan.
    6. Managing and leading multi-disciplinary project team (including suppliers) to deliver projects within Schedule, Cost, and Quality and ensure that SDO’s Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality Management Procedures are followed during the entire execution of the projects.
    7. Contributing to risk management and working with the project team to identify, schedule, and establish mitigation strategies for project risks.
    8. Running tender process and procurement activity with equipment vendors and suppliers including tender technical evaluation, raising/placing purchase orders and receipting invoices.
    9. Reporting of project progress, tracking of milestones, critical project activities, priorities, and capital forecast/cash-flow.
    10. In case of any project deviation, identifying root cause, putting mitigations in place, and creating an action plan to ensure timely delivery to project plan.
  3. Manage all project resources through to project delivery.
  4. Manage post-installation process including testing, commissioning, training, etc.
  5. Project closure – assess project status against closure criteria and manage project handover.
  6. Evaluate successes and challenges to enhance learning for future projects.
  7. Carry out Post Implementation review approximately 3 months after project commissioning to identify and record any learnings from project execution.
  8. Lead, manage & support, local area & sitewide initiatives.
  9. The Project Engineer is responsible for their own and others safety; ensure all safety procedures are adhered to and be involved in improving and developing procedures, carry out risk assessments and safety inspections.
  10. Ensure that all environmental objectives are met and work with others to minimize the impact that the operation has on the environment.
  11. Ensure all food safety and Quality requirements are met.
  12. Work with others to continually improve the Food Safety and Quality systems including completion of internal audits and plant inspections.
  13. Ensure housekeeping standards are continually improved by carrying internal audits and by self-inspection of the plant conditions.
  14. Complete all documentation accurately and as required by site procedures.
