Clinical Nurse/Practitioner Specialist Acute Pain Management

An opportunity has arisen to become the lead nurse/practitioner for the management of acute pain across the trust. The successful candidate will work within the multidisciplinary team assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating acute pain in patients.

The post holder will be responsible for effectively coordinating and delivering an expert nursing service within the speciality, developing evidence based clinical nursing practice ensuring patients receive safe, high-quality care,establishing clear lines of communication, providing specialist education across the trust to increase knowledge of acute pain management and facilitate the care of patients.

Experience within an acute or chronic pain management service would be advantageous as the trust looks to develop these services further.

Main duties of the job

To work as a practitioner within the multi-disciplinary acute pain team assessing patients, implementing care and providing specialist advice.

The post holder is responsible for effectively coordinating and delivering an expert nursing service within the specialty, developing evidence based clinical nursing practice ensuring patients receive safe, high-quality care.

The post holder will establish clear lines of communication, providing specialist education across the trust to increase knowledge of acute pain management and facilitate the care of patients

The post holder will effectively manage resources within their area and drive improvements based on evidence-based practice.

The post holder will respond to, identify, escalate and make recommendations for changes within the acute pain service, undertaking clinical audits within own specialism.

Job responsibilities

Clinical

Managerial

Ensure clinical care and documentation meet the required standard.

Assist with the management of resources in an efficient and effective manner.

To lead on the investigation of complaints and clinical incidents related to own clinical area and ensure learning is shared across the trust

To work alongside clinical staff demonstrating good practice and share experience and learning

To audit and present relevant clinical practice and service developments.

To support the Head of Nursing/ Matron to initiate and implement improvements using a systematic approach

Through effective negotiation and political awareness create an environment for partnership working and dissemination of information across multi-disciplinary teams

Education and Training

Facilitate the development of nursing practice founded on up-to-date information and research.

Create a learning environment, which actively facilitate learning.

Participate in service audits, reflection and monthly MDT meetings to move the pain service forward.

To ensure own competence and own personal development plan is reviewed and discussed with the Matron annually.

To ensure annual attendance at mandatory training sessions keeping records of attendance
