Job description
Our client are a market leading manufacturing business currently looking to recruit an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join their team.
Overall Purpose:
- As part of the commercial team you will be responsible for commercial sales development and growth in line with the strategic business plan.
- You will be responsible for meeting sales objectives including operating income, gross margin, new accounts and segment penetration.
- You will have experience in providing technical solutions to prospective clients along with in depth understanding of selling throughout all stages of the supply chain, across a diverse range of manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.
- You will ensure that opportunities are commercially and technically qualified through the sales pipeline as well as contributing to the overall business strategy through leveraging value-add opportunities from existing and future manufacturing assets.
- You will possess a strong technical background in metal manufacturing processes and contribute towards product development strategies and capex projects.
Key Duties:
- Delivery of company budget and business plan for industrial and fabrication segments.
- Maintain and develop relationships with existing and new strategic clients.
- Secure new, repeat business by proactively hunting for new opportunities and project manage bespoke requirements from concept to successful delivery.
- Understand the unique customer pains and gains and present business cases for new product and service offerings, actively participating in the development of a product roadmap.
- Identify and nurture collaborative commercial partnerships.
- Adopt and fully utilise CRM tools and manage the sales funnel process.
- Communicate summarised progress of business activities and sales pipeline metrics.
- Contribute towards the marketing strategy and support in product education and brand awareness across a variety of traditional and digital platforms.
- Collaborate with and support sales peers with technical support where appropriate.
- Monitor, evaluate and report on competitor positioning and identify and implement strategies to convert their customer base.
Key Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required:
- Proven experience in a technical sales, business development or sales management role.
- A high level of technical understanding or competence of our core product range and target segments.
- Accustomed to developing technical solutions for clients and project managing from concept to successful delivery.
- Extensive industry experience in one or several of our target market sectors would be advantageous.
- Ideally have a background within engineering, metal based products would be preferable.
- Articulate, commercially astute and a natural flair for sales and commercial negotiation.
- Goal focused with the ability to prioritise multiple objectives and measure results.
- In-depth market knowledge of our market, products and segments or the ability to quickly grasp product features and benefits.
- Technically competent across industry standard software packages such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams and the ability to learn business specific software.
- Confidence to sell both face to face and across other mediums such as video suite, telephone and email.
- Ability to handle objections and close deals.
- Natural relationship builder and strong communicator, capable of influencing and fostering good relationships both externally and internally.
- Structured, professional and calm under pressure.
- Ability to travel UK & Nationwide at short notice (travel expenses paid).
