Job description
We are looking for two Farm Liaison Officers (full-time & part-time) to work within an exciting new two year project. This is a new post, offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and personable individual to contribute to the planning phase of the large-scale restoration occurring in the West Pennine Moors.
The West Pennines More Nature Partnership is looking for two charismatic and passionate people to liaise with the numerous local farmers to create individual farm plans which support the restoration of nature alongside farm livelihoods during the two-year Development Phase. This project is an exciting opportunity for large-scale restoration to occur in the West Pennine Moors SSSI and beyond, working in tandem with both nature and local communities. This phase of the project is all about undertaking surveys and creating a number of plans which will guide the twenty-year Implementation Phase where the plans will be put into effect. This role will be predominantly responsible for engaging directly with local farmers, assisting in undertaking surveys of farm holdings, contributing to the creation of farm management plans, and ensuring farmers are kept up to date on the progress of the project. There will be the requirement for occasional out-of-hours working including early mornings, evenings and weekends. The post holder will need high levels of confidence, be able to communicate effectively, and mitigate any possible conflicts that could arise between stakeholders during the course of the project. They also need to have an understanding of the realities of upland farming while also being passionate about the natural environment. We offer 28 days holidays plus bank holidays per annum, increasing with length of service. A friendly and flexible working environment with the chance to be a part of the largest nature conservation body in the area, working together to improve our region for nature as well as engaging and inspiring people to connect and take action for wildlife.
