Job description
What you will do in your working day
As a Paralegal you will be an integral part of the team providing legal support to the team lawyers on a variety of housing litigation matters.
- Assisting with the provision of professional and competent legal advice and services in accordance with The Rules of Professional Conduct and SLLP’s procedures and office manual
- Providing assistance to the Dispute Resolution and Compliance Team, and specifically the Housing Team within, dealing with the provision of Housing Litigation and advice to Clients of the Shared Legal Service
- Drafting appropriate legal documentation, typing letters and documents ensuring that these are produced in accordance with SLLP’s house style
- Assisting with the opening and closing of electronic files, ensuring they are kept in order and that the correct documentation has been completed in accordance with SLLP’s procedures
- Carrying out general admin duties including electronic filing, photocopying, dealing with telephone queries and taking messages as appropriate
- Researching, processing, documenting, recording and presenting information from a variety of sources as appropriate to the task in hand
- Developing good relationships with existing clients ensuring a high standard of client care and a positive experience of SLLP at all times
- Dealing with managers, staff and any other persons in a polite, helpful and efficient manner as part of a comprehensive and efficient service
- To utilise the legal case management system after training has been provided
- Keeping up to date with all legal knowledge and skills and comply with all training requirements required by the position
- Complete relevant legal qualification (usually via CILEX) by the end of Apprenticeship, which will require college attendance either in person or online and additional off the job learning requirements as directed by the partner education provider.
- Carry out such other tasks and duties as may be reasonably required
