Job description
The Clinical Specialist role will take a lead role in delivery of clinical service to young people and their families. This will include supervision of clinicians and playing an active role in clinical decision making during the shift along side other clinicians. The post holder will have responsibility for providing clinical leadership to colleagues in crisis assessment, treatment and management of young people experiencing acute mental health crisis, supporting the shift co-ordination ensuring that daily tasks are prioritised appropriately. The role will involve providing crisis assessment and clinically proven, evidence based enhanced crisis interventions to children and young people. It is expected that the post holder will spend approximately 80% of there time in the delivery of direct/indirect clinical care. The post holder will provide expert care and support to all children, young people and families referred to the service providing evidenced based interventions based on need. The post holder will also formulate plans of care and negotiate implementations of such plans and the sharing of complex, sensitive, confidential and at times contentious information. The candidate will be skilled in conducting audits and anaylising the data to inform the service of areas of clinical excellence and areas for improvements. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and have advanced skills in multi-agency working to support young people with acute mental illness. The candidate will be expected to work shift patterns in a 24/7 service providing clinical leadership and support the co-ordination of the clinical demands of a busy service.
