Exciting Opportunity: Outdoor Learning Teacher - Special School!
Are you passionate about bringing education to life through outdoor experiences? Do you believe in the transformative power of nature for students with diverse learning needs? Join a dynamic team at a special school in Harborne, Birmingham, as an Outdoor Learning Teacher.
The school provides support to secondary age pupils with autism and complex needs. The role is to start asap, Monday-Thursday 8:45am-3:45pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver outdoor learning sessions tailored to the needs and abilities of students with special educational needs.
- Create a safe and inclusive outdoor environment that encourages active participation, sensory exploration, and social interaction.
- Utilise the natural surroundings as a rich learning resource to enhance academic, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate outdoor learning experiences into the wider curriculum and support individual learning goals.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to promote growth and achievement.
Requirements:
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or relevant qualifications in outdoor education, environmental studies, or a related field.
- Experience working with secondary-age students with special educational needs, preferably in a special school or alternative provision setting.
- Passion for outdoor education and a commitment to promoting holistic development through nature-based learning experiences.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs.
- Flexibility, creativity, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges and embracing new opportunities.
