Job description
The University of Aberdeen is seeking applications for a part-time (0.5 FTE) Teaching Fellow in the Department of Sociology. The Department of Sociology is a lively and collegiate department with a strong emphasis on both teaching and research. This is a fixed term post for 6 months from April 2024.

The successful candidate should hold a PhD (or be near completion) in sociology or a relevant cognate discipline and have experience of teaching in sociology or another social science. They will have the capacity to supervise students working on research projects at postgraduate level.
The successful applicant must have experience of educational provision in Higher Education. Previous experience of supervision of research topics, particularly at postgraduate taught level is desirable. They should be self-motivated, flexible and have an ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students, offering sound guidance and inspiring them to learn. They should be willing to work flexibly and conscientiously towards meeting departmental and school objectives.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 6, £37,099 - £44,263 per annum with placement according to qualifications and experience. As this post is internally funded it is available for 6 months from April 2024.
