Try running a search on Indeed or Google jobs for partner designate or partner elect You won t get many results. Companies generally don t advertise those kind of roles, but they are out there. Partners move on all the time. We talk to hiring managers and candidates day in, day out so no one knows the tax recruitment market better than we do. In our experience, at least 70% of promotions to partner in the UK are internal. Naturally, people who are popular with their colleagues and who know the firm s way of working are going to be strong contenders next time a vacancy comes around. That s why this move makes sense. You ll join a medium–sized, prosperous UK firm as their Head of Tax, reporting to the regional MD. You ll take responsibility for running a tax team including two partners. You set the strategy, sharpening the product offering, develop the team. Then, should one of the partners retire, you d be in pole position to step into their shoes. If you re ACA qualified (or similar) with experience of providing tax advice to SMEs, you can set and hit targets (even if that s just for yourself) this is a move that could really open doors.
