Job description
We have an INCREDIBLE opportunity for a Support Worker to join an 8-bed Residential Service in Staffordshire, supporting young adults between the ages of 8 and 18 with Autism and complex needs in the health and social care sector.
The service is easily accessible by public transport and offers you the opportunity to get paid whilst having a WHOLE LOT OF FUN!!
During the week the young people that live at the service go to college and you would work as a learning support assistant to support the young adults in classes such as music, sports and performing arts.
**Please note you will be required to work every other weekend / Non-drivers are welcome to apply**
Outside of college, you will support the young people in the other aspects of their day-to-day lives which include A LOT of activities!!!
Weekly you might be asked to support the young people with attending the athletics club, attending the weekly disco, going to the theatre, day trips to Alton Towers, swimming sessions, trips to the fun fair, and one young person even records music in a studio which you could support with!
Salary: £23,244
Contract: Permanent
Location: Staffordshire
Hours: Full-time, 37 hrs per week
Shift pattern: 2-week rolling rota and a mixture of 8am - 4pm / 4pm - 10pm / 8am - 10pm shifts

About the Role of a Children's Support Worker
You will be joining an established and experienced care team as a Children's Support Worker. This role is offered on a full-time basis. You will receive an in-depth induction and training programme upon joining this Children's Residential Service, and your duties will include:
Encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives.
Ensuring the safety of the young people and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the individual's care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication.
Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically, dealing with challenging behaviours when needed, and maintaining a safe environment for young people.
Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers, and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
Protecting young people from risks to their health and welfare.
Keeping the homely, friendly culture and environment of the home.

Key Skills Required for a Children's Support Worker
Experience within a children's residential setting, young people's setting, teaching setting or with challenging behaviours is an advantage.
Able to take responsibility for the care and well being of young people.
Excellent communication skills.
Must be aged 18 or over
You must be able to commute to Staffordshire
