Role: Second-in-Department (Economics)

Reporting to: Head of Department

Overview

This role will support both Habs boys and Habs girl’s school. To support the HoD as necessary. The key responsibilities will be established by agreement with the Head of Economics ensuring opportunities for the appointed candidate to draw on areas of their own interest and enthusiasm, which may include areas such as mentoring a new member of staff, development of resources for the curriculum/intranet/website, outreach events and coordination of co-curricular activities in Economics. They will be supported with regular meetings with the Head of Economics.

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

Responsibilities:

• Develop pedagogy within the subject area alongside the Head of Department.
• Keep abreast of developments in curriculum.
• Assist in the setting, marking and analysis of internal assessments.
• Develop and lead partnership activities within the department.
• Coordinate co-curricular activities within the department.
• Organise and coordinate activities in Economics.
• Deputise for the Head of Department when necessary, for example at Curriculum Leaders meetings.
• Have a thorough understanding of health and safety in the department, as well as key policies and implement them to a high standard.
