Job description
Utility contractor with a strong pipeline of work into 2024 and beyond requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience of civils works in the utilities sector.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for both pre and post-contract commercial and procurement management and procedures, including evaluating, negotiating and mitigating commercial risks, in essence running the day-to-day commercial and contract administration of projects and framework contracts. These will mainly be in the power / high voltage / HV space.
Responsibilities will include:
- Subcontractor management - rate negotiation, tender and subcontractor rate reconciliation, agreement of variations and assessment of applications
- Tender submissions - preparation, negotiation and analysis of tender costs, review of all terms and conditions, preparation of subcontract tender packages and evaluation of subcontractor responses
- Contract administration - monthly valuations, variations, arrangement of payments, claims
- Cost reporting - preparation of monthly reports to analyse cost against value for CVRs
- Attending meetings, including contract handover and progress reviews
- Ensuring contracts are administered in accordance with company policies and contract terms
- Site visits
Experience:
- Knowledge and experience of NEC Option A and JCT forms of contract
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the civil engineering and utilities sectors
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to run and manage own jobs
- Experience using cost control systems, such as Envision
- Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying
