Our client, based in the North East, is a leading pharmaceutical company who are looking for an experienced biomedical scientist or application support scientist to join their team as a Product Specialist. This exciting position is part of field support, responsible for technical service cover primarily focused on Tissue Diagnostics Instruments.
This role is full-time on a 12-month contract (inside IR35), and offers an excellent pay rate of £200 - £230 PAYE per day, excluding holiday pay. It will be a field based role so you must have a full UK Driving Licence and be willing to travel.
Responsibilities as a Product Specialist
- Handling of external and internal enquiries, either remotely or directly
- Identification and troubleshooting of complex issues
- Conducting and design of external/internal training
- Information and knowledge transfer
- On-site service activities - troubleshooting, installations, commissioning of instruments into routine use
- Conducting installations, commissioning and go-live support
- Supporting instrument installations
- Configuration and commissioning of systems into routine use
- On site support during customer verification and go-live
- Identification and troubleshooting of complex issues
- Handling of complaints in cooperation with RCSC and team support (including communication with customers and colleagues)
- Identification, reporting and resolution of common and reproducible issues
- Monitoring and escalation of complaints
- Conducting and design of internal/external training
- Perform training for systems with agreed concepts and documentation
- Maintain records of customer trainings within sites
- Undertake training in a standardised and consistent manner
- Customer Focus
- Establish and develop a relationship with the customer that enhances the reputation and professionalism of the organisation
- Ensure a prompt response to issues in line with superior customer experience
- Clear and accountable communication with customers
- Open to changes in work patterns in line with market dynamics and customer needs
- Commercial Technical Support
- Providing support to commercial functions
- Assistance for sales with customer meetings contributing product and laboratory organisation knowledge
- Assisting the sales process with tender responses
- Provide product demonstrations to customer to support the sales process
- To provide out of hours telephone support, where required if gained sufficient experience
- Knowledge of service and product portfolio
- Maintain technical knowledge in an appropriate manner
- Ensure an up to date working knowledge of instrumentation supported
- Compliance
- Responsibility as a medical devices advisor
- Knowledge of working instructions and compliant complaint handling (PRI/PSI)
- Knowledge of information security and governance
- Maintaining a high standard of operational administration; CRM, T&Es, Parts, Fleet policy
Experience / Skills
- You need to possess a thorough understanding of the IVD industry and have experience in implementing best in class laboratory practices either from a hospital laboratory or at similar diagnostics solution providers.
- You will have the ability to provide effective support for pathology laboratory solutions and excel in the art of troubleshooting.
- The successful candidate should be motivated by exceeding customer expectations, with the capability of working with minimum supervision and managing your time effectively. You should take ownership and pride in your work and the ability to plan your work schedule and travel arrangements autonomously.
- You will be required to maintain individual skills and technical knowledge and develop a relationship with customers to enhance the reputation and professionalism of the organisation.
