The Health and Safety department are looking to fill the role of HSQE Manager in their Hull facility. The HSQE Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing Company Health, Safety, Quality and Environment (HSQE) Management System. The HSQE Manager will be fully responsible for implementing safe systems of work and safe behavioral practices at all levels of the organisation. The HSQE Manager will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:00am – 17:00pm.

Our Hull location is an experienced leader in the injection and blow moulding industry housing state of the art blow moulding machines and a modern fleet of injection moulding machines. IPL Hull takes initiative on providing eco-friendly solutions and pride themselves on delivering products specifically tailored to their customers' needs. Key products include the “One Nest” stacking crate, jerry cans, Water Butt, composter, kerbside boxes, food waste containers and nestable bale arm trays.
Position Title: HSQE Manager

Job Overview and key duties
- Provide informed HSQE advice to all managers and staff
- Report on the HSQE programme and performance to Site Leadership
- Be the subject matter expert for all operational HSQ&E management matters at Site level, enhanced through frequent and effective engagement;
- Work as part of a wider global HSQE leadership team to deliver strong performance and embed the latest thinking and practice.
- Ensure the Site HSQE Statement, Policies and System Manual & Policies are developed and implemented consistently across the organization.
- Draft, oversee and implement all required SOP procedures to identify deviations from industry quality standards.
- Manage day-to-day systems integrity and compliance by problem solving, auditing, training, and updating documents and records to ensure tight adherence with standards and connection between controls and employees.
- Identify and investigate all HSQ&E issues/incidents throughout the organization and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA management).
- Report on all significant non-compliance (accidents/RIDDORS, deviations/ NCRs) and provide monthly updates to Senior Management.
- Build a deeply embedded safety culture by identifying and overcoming barriers to improving safety behaviour in a sustainable way across the Site;
- Communicate and co-ordinate the adoption of industry best practices in HSQ&E across the Site;
- Contribute, manage and maintain the Site HSQE Management System in line with ISO 9001/14001 accreditations;
- Lead continual improvement initiatives, developing the company’s HSQ&E management system and maintaining/developing ISO (or equivalent) certifications;
- Improve HSQE oversight through audits & reviews of manufacturing activities and track performance
- Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure consistent approach to HSQE
- Coach mentor a team of plant level HSQE advisors;
- Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met, if not then determine the areas lacking.
- Develop HSQE strategies, standards, programmes and plans in partnership with the VP EHS and other Site functional heads;
- Liaise with production and quality team to track and drive improvements to scrap
- Liaise and track customer NCRs providing and implementing improvement plans to reduce complaints
Essential experience and skills:
- Qualified to at least Degree Level in Occupational H&S; Science, Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered membership of the Institution e.g. of Occupational H&S (CMIOSH) eg Certified Safety Professional (CSP) (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years H&S experience in a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of HSQE legal frameworks in the UK, and have the ability and resourcefulness to determine the practical application of the requirements
- Be an ambassador, vocal advocate, influencer and presence for HSQE management
- Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to build a network of connections
- English essential
