Job description
We have an exciting opportunity to be part of a friendly and supportive team of speech & language therapists and support workers, under the clinical leadership of 2 highly specialist SLTs across the stroke pathway.
You will work as an assistant within the speech and language therapy service and stroke specialist team, based in our newly-developed stroke specialist in-patient rehabilitation unit based at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr Hospital.
You will join a caring and dynamic team, with regular access to clinical supervision, support, training and development. The post would suit someone with excellent organisational skills, a flexible approach and an enthusiasm to learn new skills
The role will support the Speech and Language Therapy team in the delivery of a wide range of assessment and therapeutic interventions for stroke survivors with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties, and their families. This will include delivering individual and group therapy, and training programmes relating to communication and swallowing difficulties associated with stroke – for patients, families and other health and social care professionals.
Previous experience of working within stroke services or with adults with communication or swallowing difficulties is important for this role, with further training being provided as necessary.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
