Job description
What you will do in your working day
- Produce 2D/ 3D CAD designs and engineering drawings for mechanical test fixtures, pipeline pig components and associated equipment produced by the company.
- Review and interpret technical drawings, calculations, design ideas, specifications, measurements, and additional data provided by internal and external parties.
- Identify factors likely to affect design decisions and be able to communicate design information to internal and external parties using sketches, models, detailed drawings, and reports.
- Annotate and verify all numerical designations and specifications in technical drawings and schematics, using both CAD programs and manual calculations when necessary.
- Check completed drawings for quality, technical compliance and completeness - both own or those of engineering design peers.
- Coordinate directly with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements, verify design details, and recommend modifications as needed according to company technical/quality standards and best practices.
- Develop drawings and design specifications for mechanical equipment and components to assist in planning and production.
- Communicate with suppliers, and other external entities, to identify/source materials and services required to fulfil the design requirements of the testing facility.
- Liaise with manufacturing departments to ensure designs are correctly interpreted and delivered in a correct and timely manner in readiness for product testing.
- Compile technical documentation relating to product testing undertaken by the company.
- Work as part of the testing team during test preparation and product testing.
- Collaborate with test personnel during product testing to identify design problems and develop effective solutions.
- As part of the testing team, assist with general day to day maintenance of the test facility.
The training you will be getting
- You will work towards your Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard.
- The role will be inclusive of a day release at Middlesbrough College
