Job Title: Stores Assistant / Stores Person (Temp to Perm)

Stores Assistant / Stores Person ideally with recent stores and quality control experience i n a production / manufacturing environment is required for a full time ongoing-contract / temp to perm position in Skelmersdale area. Rate of pay is £11.15/hr PAYE (in effect £11.75/hr due to paid lunches) working approx. 37 hours – Mon to Thur, 07:30am-5:15pm & occasional Friday’s 07:30-1:30pm and will lead to a permanent role if the candidate performs well in the role.
The Package:
- £11.15/hr PAYE (effectively £11.75/hr PAYE incl. paid lunch breaks)
- 30 days holiday including B/hols
- Typically 4 day working week – Mon to Thurs 07:30 – 17:15 (lunchtime paid) Friday’s if worked 07:30 – 13:30.
- Unscheduled O/T at 1.5x
- Necessary PPE provided
The Role:
As the Stores Assistant you will be required to work within the Operations environment. This will require several key skills related works orders, goods-in inspection, kitting, and material handling etc. to enable them to achieve the required quality and efficiency levels
In the job you’ll be tasked with the following:
- To carry out goods-in inspection for damage, quantity and quality of items received. Process stock and associated paperwork in line with company procedures, maintain a clean, tidy, and organised function
- Ensure that the incoming goods process in managed, complete the inspection of raw materials against the required specification and/or purchase order.
- To use the company MRP computer system to maintain accurate records, carry out stock transfers etc. Receive all goods delivered to the company.
- Enter all goods received on to the MRP system and correlating the items received to the purchase order to ensure order requirements are fulfilled
- Ensure accurate stock by maintaining both physical and database levels
- Complete perpetual stock checks and other ad hoc stock checks when required.
- To kit and issue materials to production Material handling in Stores is managed within in a ‘FIFO’ system ensuring a quality control, batch control and complete traceability of all parts and to ensure stores operates within the quality system.
- Operate a cable cut and strip machine as part of the material kitting process
- Support Process Control/Operating procedures and compliance issues, including material defects, concessions, and Supplier quality
- Support with purchase order details and Suppliers quality issues
The Candidate:
The ideal Stores Assistant / Stores Person will require demonstrable experience working in a Stores environment within a manufacturing facility Experience with using an MRP database system
In addition, you’ll need the following:
- 4 GCSEs grades are needed, including English and Mathematics (Equivalent qualifications may be accepted)
- Recent demonstrable experience working in a Stores environment within a manufacturing facility Experience with using an MRP database system
- Computer literate in MS Word and MS Excel with good IT skills Ability to maintain legible and accurate records.
- Quality control experience and Experience working with ISO 9001 or similar standards is desirable
- Willingness to work flexibly in response to changing organisational requirements Filing and archiving documents
- Liaise with both suppliers and internal customers to resolve delivery issues etc. Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to communicate at all levels with both internal and external contacts. Good problem-solving skills
- An ability to prioritise, plan and organise work whilst in a busy environment. An understanding of health and safety issues in the workplace.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise and work effectively within a sometimes, pressurised environment whilst maintaining compliance to company policies and procedures
- Experience of working in an MRP controlled stores environment, ideally in manufacturing environment and associated standards
