Job description

What you will do in your working day

A List of Principal tasks that the Job holder will be expected to do without exception as part of their normal duties

Start of Shift;

• Ensure effective handover communication is completed on arrival with previous Operator on shift – covering SQD (Safety, Quality & Delivery)

• Walk the Press area to carry out 5S

•Complete cleaning schedule at the start of the shift

•Carry out guard checks During the Shift

•Report any issues to the Team Leader that affect SQD throughout the shift

•Achieve machine targets speed to be optimised where possible depending on product type – raising any concerns where these cannot be achieved immediately

•Monitor and control glue line quality using the appropriate documentation– raise any concerns with the Team Leader

•Complete all related paperwork and input data onto the ERP system accurately

•Maintain good housekeeping on the glue lines and surrounding areas

•Ensure the machine and equipment is maintained to a ‘new like standard’ - raising any Engineering Cards when necessary

•To come forward with ideas and work with the Site team to continually improve the cell and process where required

•To ensure that consideration and good relations are maintained at all times

•Fill out Production feedback forms when you incur downtime or input errors

•Support the Team Leader in concluding internal spoilage investigations and customer complaints

•Ensure all metrics are populated on the machine

•Be proactive to ensure all inputs are available for the next job

•Have the experience and knowledge of the cell to provide support and training to any new starters or personnel – as and when required

•Ensure all standard SOP’s are adhered too

•Any other duties required to meet the prevailing needs of the business

Weekly / Monthly

•Provide holiday cover in line with production agreement, and provide sickness cover where possible

•Carry out planned maintenance operator tasks on a monthly basis supporting the Engineers when necessary Quarterly / Annually

•Active involvement and support in any site CPS events

The training you will be getting

Advanced Apprenticeship Standard for Print Technicians (Level 3)

A full plan will be created at the start of the Apprenticeship to provide information as to what you will be studying and when. Learn2print will deliver the theoretical knowledge for your Print Apprenticeship. You will attend a class each month for one full day at a local venue (this information will be provided on interview) This teaching and training will cover everything from health and safety and general industrial practices to specific industry practices. This will lead you to preparation for your end point assessment, consisting of an online exam, professional discussion and observation in the workplace. You will be allocated a designated tutor and workplace mentor who will support and guide you through the Apprenticeship.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Full time position within the company is available to the right candidate on completion of the apprenticeship programme, subject to performance.
