Building Safety Manager

Location: Hampshire

Contract: 6-months ongoing

Pay: Inside IR35 – Negotiable DOE

Our client, a local authority in Hampshire, is seeking a highly skilled Building Safety Manager to lead the coordination and management of all structural and fire safety matters in in-scope buildings. In this pivotal role, you will ensure compliance with current and forthcoming legislative requirements, delivering the regulatory obligations of the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the safe management of high-rise and/or higher-risk residential buildings within the Housing Management building stock, including 21 buildings over 18 meters.

Implement controls for structural and fire safety on a day-to-day basis, collaborating with the Building Safety Regulator and the 'Accountable Person.'

Provide oversight of all building safety management processes, post-initial development construction, and maintenance work.

Qualifications/Experience Needed

Hold a valid nationally recognized fire safety qualification from bodies such as the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) or Institute of Fire Safety Management (IFSM).

Hold a relevant professional qualification (e.g., RICS/CIOB) or property safety-related qualification, or HND/HNC or equivalent in construction or a relevant discipline, with equivalent professional experience (desirable).

Fire Risk Assessment qualification from a professional body registration scheme or certification by a certified body that is UKAS accredited for the activity (desirable).

Minimum of 3 years related experience in managing building risk.

Extensive experience in contract and delivery management of major fire safety projects.

Experience in a housing environment, preferably in a housing association or local authority.

Demonstrable understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, Fire Safety Act, Building Safety Act, Fire Safety and associated Fire Safety Legislation, and Health & Safety Regulations.
