Job description
A world-renowned chemical manufacturing business based in Harwich is recruiting an Electrical Engineer to join its team on a permanent basis. As their Electrical Engineer, you will undertake maintenance, repair works and modification activity on electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
This role requires you to be on call – so you must be within a commutable distance of Harwich.
Electrical Technician responsibilities
- Undertake maintenance, repair and modification activity on electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
- Statutory compliance – manage routine engineering inspection and maintenance activity to ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements.
- Work Planning – Plan and implement engineering work on site including the control of contractors in accordance with company procedures and in compliance with the relevant legislation.
- Ensure effective communication with internal and external parties’ compliance with relevant statutory requirements.
- Instruction and supervision – ensure engineering staff and contractors group members have adequate information, skills and familiarity to carry out allocated tasks effectively and in a safe and timely manner.
- To comply with all processes and procedures covered by accreditation to ISO9001, 14001 and 18001.
Electrical Technician requirements
- Professional qualification – BTECH, HNC/HND or NVQ.
- Experience of electrical systems maintenance and testing including HV, LV, 17th edition, and hazardous areas to EN60079.
- Experience of PLC and DCS control and field instrumentation including intrinsically safe circuits.
- Good organisational skills plus experience with maintenance management system, controlling contactors and operating within a CDM environment.
- Technical knowledge and planning skills including assessment of method statements and risk assessments.
- Experience in managing capital projects and/or major shutdowns.
- Awareness of relevant health and safety legislation and company procedures.
