Surrey Arts

Surrey Arts is the lead youth music organisation in Surrey, and we provide music lessons, instrument hire, out of school music centres, activities and ensembles for young people.

About the role

We now have opportunities for Guitar/Ukulele Teachers to join our talented team of experienced and committed teaching staff. Across 33 weeks of the academic year, you will deliver high quality and innovative music education to children and adults at various schools and venues around the county.

In this role, you will be supported by a team of Administrators and an Area Manager to organise your schedule and timetables. You will also be provided with annual paid CPD and training opportunities.

You will join a team dedicated to "changing lives through world class arts". Surrey Arts is an ambitious and forward-thinking organisation that places young people at the centre of our work. We currently have the following positions available:

• North Surrey - Spelthorne and Runnymede: 12 hours of school day teaching, including two sessions of whole class teaching. £11,016 per annum based on 12 hours per week for 33 weeks per year.
• East Surrey - Caterham: 8 hours of school day teaching, including whole class ukulele teaching (Tuesday PM preferred). £7,345 - £7,910 per annum based on 8 hours per week for 33 weeks per year (264 hours in total). Rate dependant on individual or whole class teaching.
• South Surrey - Dorking, Leatherhead, Ashford: 8 hours of school day teaching to include individual, small group guitar teaching, whole class ukulele teaching and a rock band lunch club! (Tuesday and Friday preferred). £7,344 - £8,099 per annum based on 8 hours per week for 33 weeks per year (264 hours in total). Rate dependant on individual or whole class teaching.

This is a peripatetic role where teaching takes place during the school day, after school and at the weekend, at various schools and music centres in Surrey.

Shortlisting Criteria

As part of your application you will be asked to submit a CV and answer the following questions:

• What specialist music knowledge and experience related to your instrument(s) shows that you perform / teach / create to a high standard?
• What experiences do you have working with children and young people in school, youth, or community settings in the UK?
• What experience do you have of managing teaching and learning in small and large group instrumental lessons?
• Have you had any experience teaching students with additional learning needs? If yes, please give an example of how you ensured this student's learning experience gave them the best opportunities to reach their potential. (Please keep this example anonymous).
• Please tell us anything else you would like to know to support your application that is not on your CV.
• Please tell us your current availability including ability to teach after school and on a Saturday morning. Please reference other instruments you can teach also.

For this role, you will also need to have the ability and willingness to travel around the county.
