Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant

£22,501 per annum
37.5 hours per week

Our team in our Brentwood Hospital currently have an opportunity for an Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant. Continue your journey with us whilst we'll support you to be your best.
The Endoscopy unit provides diagnostic services including Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy and Flexible Cystoscopy.
As an Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant , you will:
Provide and deliver a high standard of nursing, recognising and meeting the specific needs of patients.
Maintain his/her own professional development, attending courses/further training to enhance and optimise his/her role within the work area.
Promote and safeguard the wellbeing of patients, their families and colleagues.
Participate in the development and implementation of Unit policy and nursing strategies.
Ensure that equipment is properly maintained and used safely, and that their personal training records are kept in accordance with Medical devices policies and competencies.
Report untoward incidents, complaints, clinical emergencies to senior staff.
Participate in clinical audit or reviews of patient care, as required.
Promote health education to patients, carers and significant others.
Actively participate in meetings related to own clinical area.
Assist and support clinical staff in providing patient care both pre and post procedure.
Act as the patient's advocate at all times.
Work within level of competence in taking and recording patient vital signs.
Work alongside and under the supervision of the qualified staff.
Work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative.
Communicate effectively.
Undertake documentation accurately and legibly within accordance to Nuffield Health protocol and policies.
Ensure that patient confidentiality, privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
Identify and report any health and safety and maintenance problems to the appropriate personnel.
Have a good knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures related to Endoscopy.
Participate in cleaning and checking of equipment and clinical areas on a daily basis.
Prepare and set up procedure room.
Maintain accurate recording and safe handling of chemicals.
Participate in the decontamination of all endoscopic equipment, with adequate training.
Participate in the ordering of consumables, handling supplies and monitor stock levels.
The Person:
You will have relevant experience as a Healthcare Assistant with previous experience of working in Endoscopy as desirable / essential.
To assist in the delivery of care planned and assessed by the registered nurses.
