Production Manager
Overview of Responsibilities:
As the Production Manager you will hold direct accountability for the production and profitability of the manufacturing shop floor. In addition, you will develop and maintain a team approach for the manufacturing group, focusing on cost effective quality components and on-time delivery that meet internal/external customer expectations.
Key Job Elements:
- Drive and develop the manufacturing business in accordance with strategic goals, focusing on divisional KPI’s
- Responsible for the coordination of production orders throughout the Quick Turn Cells (QTC)
- Responsible for the implementation of new processes and procedures within the QTC cell
- Measure and improve QTC productivity and efficiencies by establishing and managing Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), lean practices, 6s etc
- Prepare budget proposals and manage budgets and timelines relative to project tasks
- Conduct annual and mid-term appraisals
- Ensure the department maintains accurate and up to date process documentation, including but not limited to work instructions, on-boarding documents, annual appraisals, tracking personnel performance
- Drive recruitment and retention programmes within the manufacturing division
- Support ongoing apprenticeship/traineeship programs through external providers
- Provide data and statistical analysis to management through high-level use of D365 and Power BI reporting systems
- Responsible for coordinating & responding to Corrective Action Requests (CAR’s), hold tags and ensuring Long-Term Corrective Actions (LCTA) are carried out promptly
- Provide training to new and existing staff on work instructions and processes as defined in the Quality Management System (QMS)
- Conversant with all relevant H&S legislation relating to the current manufacturing operation in the UK
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Attributes:
Required
- Great communication skills
- Positive attitude, a natural leader
- Previous manager or supervisor experience
- Previous managerial experience
- Minimal HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering
- Quality (ISO) and H&S experience
- MRP/ERP system experience
- Computer literacy
Preferred
- Experience of practical engineering skills e.g. machining, welding in a workshop environment
- Project management qualification and /or experience
- Lean Sigma or 6 Sigma experience
