Job description

A Vacancy at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy team on Hailsham and Friston Wards. Since COVID we are split between two areas so that we can continue to provide safe care to our elective and unplanned admissions for Urology and ENT.

Hailsham is our elective ward with 41 beds for surgical patients where we have a dedicated day surgery unit as well as caring for overnight cases. Our main specialties are Urology, Orthopaedic and ENT however we also admit General Surgery, Gynaecology, Max Fax and Breast patients.

Friston is our assessment ward where we admit patients direct from A&E and the community. We have 28 beds and two clinic rooms for patients who need treatment but are not necessarily for admission.

The successful applicant will rotate between the two wards and will be responsible for co-ordinating the team and bed flow to ensure seamless patient care. Communication and listening skills are essential as you will be liaising with other areas and the Clinical Site Team.

The Sister/Charge Nurse will be expected to complete staff appraisals, Datix investigations, Safe Care, ward safety checks. whilst leading and supporting the ward team. The successful applicant will need to work well under pressure and have a minimum of two years experience in an acute setting at Band 5 and have Mentorship level 3 or the equivalent. The post will be internal rotation which includes days, nights and weekends.

To support the ward Matron in maintaining efficient, effective and safe delivery of patient care, within an environment that promotes a responsive approach to changing Healthcare needs.
