Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for assigned engineering projects within a team of engineers across five Terminals and Depots, and three cylinder filling/refurbishment plants across the island of Ireland. Three sites are top tier COMAH sites with safe storage of bulk LPG on sites with storage vessels and associated pipework including cylinder and bulk filling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Propose and agree, within the team and with the Engineering Manager, project schedule by studying overarching project list and specifications, calculating time requirements and sequencing project elements.
- Responsibility for supporting and giving direction to project engineers to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Responsibility for the preparation, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of engineering projects in conjunction with the Engineering Manager.
- Liaise with the Engineering Manager, National Maintenance Manager, National Terminals Manager/Coordinators and Principal Process Safety Engineer to agree on priority of projects.
- Prepare and present project status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends, and recommending actions.
- Communicate project updates to Engineering Manager, National Terminal Manager, Principal Process Safety Engineer, and Head of National Infrastructure.
- Manage and have final sign off on the Management of Change process as required.
- Conduct weekly updates call to Engineering Manager to relay key information.
- Work with the Engineering Manager to assist the Engineering Manager, National Maintenance Manager, National Terminals Manager/Coordinators and Principal Process Safety Engineer in the development of national infrastructure engineering project budgetary targets to ensure safety critical projects are suitably prioritised.
- Chair Monthly Engineering project meetings.
Own Projects:
- Execute project schedule in conjunction with the Engineering Manager, ensuring time requirements and sequencing of project elements are in line with the overall project programme.
- Manage project budgets including cost projections, costings, contingencies, and spend and commitment tracking. Report any potential overspends to the Engineering Manager.
- Manage contractors on assigned engineering projects with particular focus on Health and Safety.
- Complete and refresh all training specific to the role as and when required.
- Manage individual projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
- Responsibility for the preparation, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of assigned engineering projects.
- Liaise with National Terminal Manager/Coordinators and Production Managers to agree scope and timelines of projects.
- Prepare project status reports for review by the Engineering Manager.
- Communicate project updates to National Terminal Manager/Coordinators ad key stakeholders.
- Continuously review safe systems of work and create, update, and implement relevant work instructions and procedures. Identify gaps against statutory and corporate standards.
- To design, specify, and manage the installation of operational projects as specified and required due to safety, environmental, or production requirements.
- Adhere to the Management of Change procedure.
- Support safety audits on Calor sites.
- Diligent safety and technical process design and adherence.
- Convert technical requirements into realistic and achievable action plans.
- Support the day to day Operations activities including providing technical advice and solutions.
General:
- Mentor and support Graduate and Student Engineers within the team.
- Represent Calor on relevant technical committees and authorising bodies as required.
- Operational Discipline and Process Safety – Working in conjunction with QHSE, Compliance Engineer, and Principal Process Safety Engineer and wider Engineering Team to ensure site compliance with SHV Process Safety Management.
- A third level degree ideally in mechanical engineering, project management, construction, or equivalent with a view to chartership.
- Competent Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in the areas or technical and project management.
- Ability to develop and nurture relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Results driven and focused hands-on individual with demonstrated capability to manage a range of tasks.
- Demonstrate a strategic approach to achieve business objectives.
- Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a cross functional team.
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
- Experience within the energy industry would be an advantage.
- Full clean driving license as all island travel is essential.
