Job Description:
As a Freelance AWS Data Engineer, you will play a vital role in designing and optimizing scalable data solutions on the AWS cloud platform to support data-driven initiatives within the utilities industry. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to architect data pipelines and ensure the reliability and efficiency of data processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of data analytics and decision-making within the utilities sector.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines on AWS to support data ingestion, processing, transformation, and storage for utilities-related datasets.
- Develop and maintain ETL workflows using AWS services such as Amazon S3, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon EMR.
- Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, adhering to AWS best practices and industry standards.
- Collaborate with data analysts and domain experts to understand business requirements and ensure data solutions meet operational needs.
- Implement data governance and security measures to ensure data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements in the utilities sector.
- Monitor data pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive solutions to maintain system reliability and operational efficiency.
- Document technical designs, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure the scalability and maintainability of data solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer designing and implementing data solutions on the AWS cloud platform.
- In-depth knowledge of AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, EMR, and relevant data storage technologies.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala for building data pipelines and ETL processes.
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases, SQL, and data modeling concepts.
- Experience in the utilities industry or related domains is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
