Job description
The Civils Operations Manager will head up a multidiscipline civils team to deliver a programme of works within the Fibre Upgrade Scotland workstream.
Using and developing your knowledge and expertise, you will ensure the most efficient and cost-effective approach is used to deliver an outstanding level of service whilst maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and quality.
The role will include both upward and downward reporting within Comex 2000 and the client providing clear and precise direction at all levels
Responsibilities and duties
- To oversee installation of telecoms infrastructure including underground and overhead
- Overseeing all activities and staff to ensure that design, procurement, financial control and site activities are managed to the highest standards in all areas of delivery
- Liaise with and build strong relationships with local authority, Clients, Street works and Civils teams.
- Oversee Reinstatement teams working on backfill and reinstatement operations including the use of Grab lorries.
- Ensure site safety standards are maintained, assisting risk assessment, accident investigation, site instructions and inspections
- Ensure all work is carried out safely, according to specifications and in accordance with clients specifications.
- Be able to react to customer queries and plan works accordingly
- Have the ability to work under pressure and remain calm
- Previous experience in Reinstatement in a similar environment (Water, Gas, Telecoms)
- Ability to interpret contract commitments
- Manage client/contractor expectations within the context of designated workstream and their commitment to continuing our longstanding relationship with this client
- Ensuring that the key deliverables within each stage of the projects are being administered to the highest quality
- Demonstrate and develop and financial controls that detail profit and loss and cost to complete reports for each project within the programme
- Manage office and site staff requirements and resourcing against multiple live projects
- Participate in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence.

Requirements
- Ability to create H&S documentation, progress reports and tracking documentation
- Experience with engaging suppliers with an eye on new technology within the industry
- Commercial and contractual awareness
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Able to organise yourself and others workload
- Able to work in a strong team environment
- Be proactive in your approach
- An excellent communicator
- A high level of diplomacy and customer focused
- Excellent time-management skills
- Telecommunications or similar industry experience
- NRSWA accreditation is desirable
