Job description
A vacancy has arisen for an experienced Band 3 Cardiographer in our ECG Department at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We provide some diagnostic services for the hospital for both inpatients and outpatient across both of the trust's sites. We are a busy department and all work very well together as a friendly team.
You will be assisting the current Senior Technical Assistants with diagnostics and some clerical work in the department, dealing with patients, their relatives, and all other healthcare professionals employed by the trust. It is essential that the post holder has good computer and communication skills, as well as experience of recording ECGs.

• Maintains a good working relationship with local GP’s over the telephone, regarding urgent referrals for ECG’s.
• Deals with members of the public who telephone the department requiring appointments and queries.
• Develops a good relationship with all nursing and medical staff throughout the hospital.
• Day-to-day contact with patients and relatives in the department. Assisting patients with the organisation of external transport.
• Acting as escort to patients who cannot find their way to other departments.
• Instructs nursing and medical staff on the correct procedure for operating an
ECG machine and ensuring correct placement for electrodes.
• Evaluates problems with ECG machines and carries out first line maintenance.
• Performs ECG’s on both inpatients and outpatients. This includes taking the machine to other wards and departments in the Hospital.
• Performs ECG’s on babies in the Neonatal Department.
• Responsible for the first line interpretation of ECG’s on patients from GP’s and within the hospital, and informing medical staff of any acute situations.
• Booking appointments for Cardiology Diagnostic tests.
• Covering Reception duties.
