JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can lead the marketing of our portfolio of world-class events. The successful candidate will already be a marketing professional and is likely to have an intuitive understanding of our events because they are either a runner themselves, and/or have a background in event marketing. This role includes the full spectrum of marketing skills and will be best suited to an all-rounder with a strong digital emphasis in their experience. We need someone with a meticulous approach to planning and a natural attention to detail to master a complex marketing brief that has a laser focus on growing our entries.
This role is based in our Kendal office with ad hoc working from home possible. This role will also require a commitment from the candidate to attend our events in person. Additional and adjusted responsibilities to those listed should be expected in keeping with an ever-evolving small business. The successful candidate would also be entitled to the company pension scheme, TOIL payments for any days worked on events, and the company bonus scheme. There is a generous annual leave allowance.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Day-to-Day Office Role
Our Marketing Manager is the lead person in the business planning, coordinating, and implementing all the marketing and communications for each event. This role includes:
Responsible for producing and implementing the overarching strategic marketing and communications plan for the business, including budget responsibility.
Leading digital advertising campaigns and social media communication in partnership with a digital agency.
Part of the business Management Team supporting the general commercial and strategic direction of Ourea Events.
Line management of the marketing team.
Champion of the brand identities and guidelines for Ourea Events and our portfolio of events.
Management of all external agencies supporting the marketing function including creative, design, advertising, and PR.
Oversight of all branding, logo, and design implementation across all aspects of the business including digital, merchandising, and event collateral.
Providing leadership in the use of CRM to optimize our customer communications through platforms such as Mailchimp and HubSpot.
Supporting the relationships with our event sponsors and partner brands.
Recruiting and managing filming and photography freelance contractors.
Working with our network of freelance graphic designers to produce sponsorship decks, annual reports, sustainability reports etc.
Conducting post-event surveys and seeking customer insights that support the ethos of reflection and evolution in our event propositions.
Coordinating with the Operations Team to ensure that our site and operational plans support the vision of the event, our sponsors and branding expectations and of course, the participants' expectations.
Event Delivery Role
Our Marketing Manager is responsible for the marketing and communications objectives during each event. This role includes:
Briefing and management of all media personnel at each event such as freelance journalists, photographers, filmmakers and third-party media organizations.
Editorial responsibility and coordination of all the event communications including blogs, social media updates, press releases and films.
Coordinating with our sponsors and partner brands to ensure that communications, activations and other such activities to support our obligations with sponsors are met.
Ensuring that event and sponsor branding (uniforms, banners, scrim, flags etc.) is displayed correctly.
Supporting the social media content creation, journalistic reportage and communications at each event, including writing and publishing content.
Championing the participant experience at each event through close collaboration with the Operations Team and a focus on key moments such as finisher photos, prize ceremonies etc.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory
Minimum of five years of marketing experience.
Intuitive understanding of our events because of a personal background of participating in trail, mountain, fell and/or orienteering events.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to drive various event vehicles.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and camping at events.
Desirable

A higher education qualification in marketing.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams).
Proficiency with Apple computers and operating systems.
Proficiency with Mailchimp email marketing platform.
Proficiency with Squarespace website content management system.
Proficiency with HubSpot customer relationship management platform.
Proficiency with Affinity Designer and Publisher.
Proficiency with META Business Suite
Experience in digital advertising on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
