Our in-house Legal team is instrumental in providing legal advice and support to all departments across South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council. We are looking to recruit experienced legal professionals to join our expanding friendly Legal team, to help support the future growth and direction of this busy service.
Following the promotion of the previous postholder we need an experienced lawyer, preferably with strong planning experience to manage the multi-disciplinary team, to deal with complex enquiries from client departments on a variety of queries, carrying a personal case load. To instruct and manage the use of barristers on planning inquiries and Court hearings. This principal lawyer role represents a real opportunity for a lawyer to step up to a management position.
For this role we are looking for someone with experience of advising on development management, enforcement, the local development framework and on general housing and landlord legislation. The role will include advising formal planning and licensing committees and planning appeals as well as handling evictions, land disputes and affordable housing initiatives.
You will need experience of a blend of excellent legal skills (min 5 years PQE) and be able to work independently as well as oversee a small team, up to date knowledge of property law and be a qualified solicitor, barrister or chartered legal executive. Experience of working in a local authority and supervising staff would be an advantage.
In return you will receive a generous holiday allowance of 25 days, career average pension, truly flexible working and support for your health and wellbeing.
If this sounds like you, we look forward to hearing from you.
