Job description
Our client, based in Aylesbury, are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is being recruited for an immediate start on a Permanent basis.
The successful individual will possess robust problem-solving abilities, driven by motivation and capable of functioning both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. The Design Engineer must excel in organising their workload, effectively managing short-term projects alongside long-term objectives.
Proficiency in SolidWorks is highly valued, while familiarity with manufacturing processes and methods is advantageous but not mandatory.
Job Title: Design Engineer
Reporting to: Production Manager
Working Hours: 07:00 – 16:30
Salary: £25,000.00-£40,000.00 Depending on experience
Key Tasks:
- Produce product designs, manufacturing methodologies, costings, and documents
- Collaborate closely with the lead engineer and technical team to understand customer requirements and provide solutions utilizing standard/existing products where possible.
- Manage technical and sales projects
- Quote parts during busy times or holiday periods in the technical department
- Create and maintain records within the Company’s engineering policies in the ERP system
- Manipulate customer CAD files for quoting purposes
- Ideally have experience with surfacing for press tool creation, etc.
- Create engineering drawings for internal and external use
Skills Required:
- Personable with a high degree of self-motivation
- Strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage workload efficiently
- Flexible and adaptable with a “can-do” approach
- Proficiency in Solidworks is desirable
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and methods is ideal but not essential
- Ability to increase efficiency and performance through well-designed products and processes
- Willingness to streamline design processes and explore innovative solutions
- Ability to attend customer meetings to discuss requirements and capabilities
Desired Experience:
- 2-5+ years in a Mechanical Design Engineer Role
- Project Management experience is a plus
