Job description
Role Overview : Hepatitis C is a viral infection that causes liver swelling, called inflammation. Hepatitis C can lead to serious liver damage. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) spreads through contact with blood that has the virus in it. There are lots of ways you can get involved to help Substance to Solution reach our goal of eliminating Hepatitis C across Northamptonshire. Volunteers are from all walks of life, with varying hepatitis C experiences from across the country. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting service users in their recovery journey, assisting with dry blood spot testing, and engaging them in Hepatitis C treatment. By contributing to the micro-elimination of Hepatitis C, you will directly impact the development and continuity of our service. This role requires a motivated attitude towards multi-agency collaboration. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate(s), so if this role interests you, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities :
- Support Service Users :
- Provide empathetic support to service users during their recovery process.
- Assist with dry blood spot testing, ensuring accurate results and timely follow-up.
- Engage in Treatment for Hepatitis C :
- Encourage service users to access Hepatitis C treatment services.
- Facilitate referrals and guide them through the treatment pathway.
- Training and Shadowing :
- Benefit from extensive training and shadowing opportunities.
- Receive specialised training on all Blood-Borne Viruses (BBVs), with a focus on Hepatitis C.
- Induction and Core E-Learning :
- Attend comprehensive training sessions covering Substance to Solution ethos, service delivery, and volunteer role
- Complete core e-learning modules via Connect Skills, covering data protection, boundaries, safeguarding children, safeguarding adults, and information security.
- Client Confidence and Trust :
- Assess your suitability for working independently.
- Inspire confidence and trust in service users through your interactions.
Requirements :
- Commitment to promoting harm reduction and supporting vulnerable individuals.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to relevant policies.
- Passion for making a positive impact on the lives of service users.
Support and Supervision :
- You will be supported by our harm reduction team.
- Ongoing supervision and guidance will be provided.
