JOB DESCRIPTION: ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER

Downview is a popular school with highly motivated, enthusiastic children and hardworking, dedicated and friendly staff who are well supported by governors and parents.
We are looking to appoint an outstanding and forward thinking Assistant Headteacher to share the leadership at Downview Primary School. We are looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic practitioner who is ambitious and has a desire to broaden their management experience.
Main purpose
The Assistant Headteacher will support the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher in:
Communicating the schools vision and supporting the Headteachers strategic leadership.
The day-to-day management of the school.
Monitoring progress towards meeting the schools aims and objectives.
Qualities
The Assistant Headteacher will:
Uphold public trust in school leadership and maintain high standards of ethics, behaviour and professional conduct.
Build positive and respectful relationships across the school community.
The successful candidate will:
Have an excellent knowledge of the curriculum with a particular interest in mathematics and assessment.
Be able to inspire and motivate both staff and pupils.
Be able to promote high standards of achievement and behaviour.
Have excellent IT skills.
Have excellent management, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Be able to contribute significantly to the strategic development and leadership of the school and be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.
Be able to demonstrate how they have driven new initiatives forward in a school.
Be able to take an active part in all aspects of school life.
Effectively support and line-manage colleagues.
