Use of Force Instructor
Location Manston.
Salary circa £40k
The role you'll play in transforming lives and building stronger communities.
Working as a Use of Force Instructor you will undertake operational management and management duties when not delivering training - this will include managing teams of Detention Custody Officers and operations on site at Manston, a short-term holding facility. You will be a trained and in date Control & Restraint instructor (NTRG certified) having undertaken the Use of Force (UoF) Instructor Initial Course and completed all refresher training to ensure you are fully compliant and able to deliver the recognised Control & Restraint training package.
- You will deliver UoF training to our client's employees; training new starters through our Initial Training Course (ITC), coordinating and delivering refresher training and coaching/developing of colleagues.
- As a will review any UoF incidents which take place on site, ensuring coaching and mentoring takes place. This will include regular review and continuous improvement of the UoF standard operating procedures. You will then help to deliver any recommendations made as a result of investigation, and work with senior managers to communicate changes and development as a result of the outcome,
- You'll be required to monitor the application of Use of Force in practice, ensuring best practice approach, identifying and addressing any training needs, and reviewing processes and governance arrangements in conjunction with the Contract Manager.
- You will undertake regular reviews of learning outcomes & assess all learner competency levels, review and play a role in any investigation resulting from Use of Force incidents, including Use of Force reports and BWC footage, and oversee the Use of Force training database, working closely with the Business Process Office (BPO) to organise and plan.
- Part of your role will be to complete and maintain risk assessments for any UoF training in conjunction with the other UoF Instructors.
- Any other additional duties which relate to the planning, application and delivery of UoF training or the responsibilities of a Detention Custody Manager when working on site, at the discretion of the Contract Manager and/or Site Manager.
- Key Requirements as a Use of Force Instructor :
- Hold the Level 3 Award in Education & Training (or equivalent qualification) -Desirable NOT essential.
- Must be competent in operational procedures within a detained setting, including dynamic risk assessments.
- Qualified and in date Control and Restraint UoF Instructor through NTRG, up to date with all refresher training requirements - Essential
- Ability to comply with ongoing performance and competency assessment by NTRG.
- Previous management or supervisory experience would be an advantage. Full UK driving license is desirable but not essential.
- Must be able to pass CTC level security clearance.
