Job description
The successful candidate will be working for King's Interhigh part of Inspired Online Schools they will have a deep understanding of online teaching and the professional duties that need to be carried out to ensure that high quality teaching and pastoral care of all students are maintained and delivered effectively and consistently throughout all classes. They will be able to lead a team of pastoral support teachers and subject specialists to deliver a high-quality and supportive learning experience, as well as encouraging innovation and collaboration within the team to evolve the student experience and the efficiency of the school.
The successful candidate will undertake any professional duties of the Headteacher playing a major role in formulating the aims and objectives of the school, developing the systems, polices and process through which the aims and objectives will be achieved, managing staff and resources to meet the school’s aims and objectives and monitor progress towards achieving these.
The role will suit an educational leader with an eye for detail, a commitment to delivering the very best for students and families, and a desire to ensure that the school can continue to grow efficiently and sustainably to deliver our goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To assist the headteacher in shaping a vision and direction for the school, setting out very high expectations and with a clear focus on pupil achievement.
- Be an ‘outstanding’ role model and act as a leading classroom practitioner and inspiring and motivating other staff.
- Focus fully on the student experience and service for families so that the highest quality education and support is maintained.
- Working with the Headteacher to sustain high expectations and outstanding practice in teaching and learning throughout the school.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and standards of pupil’s achievement and use benchmarks and set targets for school improvement.
- To undertake quality assurance activity to raise student’s standards of achievement and to evaluate practice.
- Work with the Headteacher to lead, motivate, support, challenge and develop all staff to secure continual improvement including his/her own continual professional development.
- To be an exemplar of all school policies and practices.
- To support the Headteacher to lead in Performance Management of all teaching staff.
- To participate in recruitment and selection, as agreed by the Headteacher.
- Supporting the Headteacher in accounting for the efficiency and effectiveness of the school to all relevant stakeholders.
- Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
- Deputise for the Headteacher in their absence.
- Take a major role in the day-to-day running of the school, attending weekly meetings and leading them as required.
- Contribute to a positive ethos for learning and exemplify discretionary effort.
- Promote the values and achievements of the school to the community.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- QTS or equivalent, other qualifications relevant to the role are desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of school systems and processes.
- Good knowledge of the current and future online learning landscape, and excellent communication skills.
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent leadership, and people development skills
- Motivated to achieve excellence for self and others
- Experience of working with a diverse range of students, and knowledge of our full range of student requirements in Inspired Online Schools.
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection in relation to school systems and processes
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that showcase a dynamic and supportive stance to all stakeholders
- Attention to detail, confidence in handling data, and accuracy in work
- Aspirational for the future success and growth of Inspired Online Schools, with an understanding of how operational efficiency will contribute to this.
