Consultant Haematologist Haemostasis and Thrombosis With a multi-million-pound investment, UHD is a recently formed 1000 bed Trust comprised of Poole Hospital, Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospitals in partnership with Bournemouth University. The 30-bed haematology in-patient unit, including the established JACIE accredited autologous transplant unit will be housed at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (major acute & emergency hospital) from April 2024 which also has day case chemotherapy and outpatient facilities. Poole Hospital is being developed as the major planned/elective care hospital and will have day case chemotherapy and outpatient facilities. Our Haemostasis and thrombosis service is part of the Southern haemophilia network MDT and we manage complex bleeding and thrombosis disorder patients Dorset wide. Bournemouth is a vibrant university town and Poole has a large natural harbour and is ideal for water sports and outdoor ventures. With both the New Forest and Isle of Purbeck on our doorstep, over 7 miles of stunning sandy beaches and coastal paths, we are located within an area of amazing beauty providing a great place for you to achieve a rewarding work life balance. The area also has excellent schools including highly achieving Grammar schools. As a result of significant financial investment, we are recruiting to 5 new consultant posts (10PA) in the department to include a new Haemostasis and Thrombosis consultant. HAEMOSTASIS & THROMBOSIS@UHD The successful candidate will join our existing H&T team led by Dr Luke Attwell and participate in the Southern Haemophilia Network & thrombosis MDT, Wessex regional on call rota covering the management of complex patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders(1 in 5). We are a haemophilia treatment centre responsible for the provision of specialist care to over 400 patients with mainly inherited but also acquired bleeding disorders. We manage adults and children including 30 patients with severe haemophilia. Our team currently includes a consultant, a clinical nurse specialist in haemophilia and bleeding disorders, senior physiotherapist and clinical psychologist. The thrombosis work entails all clinical and laboratory aspects. Involvement in H&T research and relevant regional clinical trials will be actively encouraged, as will developing general haematology and sub-speciality clinics.
