We specialise in the recruitment of high quality candidates in the Education sector. We have an excellent opportunity for an Estates and Facilities Lead for a secondary school in Hemel Hempstead. The role will be to oversee the management and development of the school estate and facilities.
£38,000 - £42,000 + Benefits
Temp to Perm (6 months+) with some flexible working
Assistant Facilities Manager / Estates and Facilities Lead’s Core Duties
- Develop a strategic plan for the school’s estates and facilities
- Identify opportunities for enhancements and renovations
- Oversee the daily management of buildings and grounds, ensuring they are safe and secure
- Monitor all service contracts (inc. cleaning and catering)
- Coordinate maintenance staff and external vendors to do routine repairs and improvements
- Develop a maintenance program to prolong the life of the school’s facilities
- Lead projects from inception to completion (inc. budgeting, planning, and quality control)
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are on time and within budget
- Support in the development of the budget, monitoring expenses and cost-saving opportunities
- Prepare financial reports as required
- Line manage the facilities teams and offer training as required
- Monitor the Health & Safety policy, including Risk Assessment procedures
- Comply with building codes, safety regulations, and other statutory requirements
- Perform regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and emergency drills
- Maintain the upkeep of the school minibuses
Assistant Facilities Manager / Estates and Facilities Lead’s Skills and Experience Required
- Experience in strategic facilities planning, management, and construction project management
- Experience within an educational establishment (highly desirable)
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and environmental sustainability practices
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience with budgeting and financial management, plus financial data analysis
- Problem-solving ability and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
