Job description
What you will do in your working day
- To ensure that all areas are set up for the day and that the environment is enabling
- Carry out risk assessments
- Set up cots in the children's bedrooms
- View plans for the day and to liaise with the Team Leader/Deputy Manager
- Engage with children in age appropriate activities
- Document children's learning and development via observations and planning
- To ensure that every child and visitor is signed in and out each day
- Ensure that areas of play are free from obstruction and toys are accessible to children
- To follow ABC's policies and procedures and to review them regularly
- To follow the EYFS principles and read other books and publications relevant to childcare
- Plan children's next steps and document their progress
- Attend to children's physical needs such as nappy changing, toileting and hand washing and to follow the intimate care policy
- Contribute to Learning Journeys and ensure an observation is added for each child weekly
- Ensure all toys are in the correct boxes and that areas are left tidy (when the children have finished playing)
- Use positive language when liaising with children and adults and ensure that you are a good role model for all around you
- Show enthusiasm for the role and participate in staff discussions, meetings, brain storming etc
- Take ownership for your own ideas
- Follow risk assessments and attend to cleaning duties
- Complete relevant paperwork such as diaries and accident forms
- Liaise with parents daily using positive language
- Liaise with all team members regarding a child's daily routine
- Ensure children's belongings, diaries, paperwork and art work get sent home every day
- Be vigilant to children's safety inside and outside of the setting Ensure children come first at all times.
- Attend training as suggested by the Manager
- Cover other staff holidays and sickness as requested by the Manager
- Be a supportive team member and think of colleague's feelings and well-being
- Ensure that all areas are tidied and that your responsibilities have been completed before you leave each day
The training you will be getting
Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:
End Point Assessment:
- Professional discussion and review of behaviours
- Knowledge test
- Functional Skills in maths and English
- Training and training location to be confirmed
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- Upon successful completion of this qualification learners can enter the workforce as a qualified Level 2 Early Years Practitioner or continue to study for a Level 3 Diploma holding Early Years Educator status
- There will be continued personal development and opportunities for career progression
