Job description

Job: Clerk to the Governors Employer: Multi Academy Trust, Slough, Berkshire Location: Slough (hybrid working) Contract: Permanent, part-time 7.4 hours a week, term time only (38 weeks a year), hybrid working available, some Governing Body meetings take place in the early evening and travel to the meetings is required Salary: £32,101 - £36,413 FTE (or £16.64 - £18.87 per hour); Level 6, Scale Point 24 (24-29) Start date: As soon as possible

Aston Education is looking for a part-time Clerk to the Governors/Governance Professional with PEX panel experience for a Multi-Academy Trust in Slough in Berkshire , to start as soon as possible. 

In this Clerk to the Governors role, you will primarily support one secondary school in Slough. You will make an invaluable contribution in achieving the strategic and statutory responsibilities of the governing body and you’ll work in partnership with the Chair of Governors to keep the governing body focused on its core strategic priorities and provide advice and guidance to the governing body on its duties and functions.

The Clerk will also attend and clerk PEX panels (Pupil Permanent Exclusion panels) and deliver administrative support to facilitate sound governance through recording of minutes at meetings and support and advice on recruitment, policy guidance and training. 

This role offers good flexibility with working hours and the ability to work from home and office.  Additional hours may be required on an ad-hoc basis. Meetings must be attended in person and there are 6 meetings for the LGB in one academic year as well as panel hearings.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience required:

-          Experience of permanent exclusion panels (PEX)

-          GCSE or equivalent (NVQ Level 2) passes in English and mathematics 

-          Clerking qualification in desirable

-          Experience working in a similar Clerk or Company Secretary position, including writing agendas and concise and accurate minutes

-          Good working understanding of governance in a Multi Academy Trust is desirable

-          An understanding of school governor responsibilities, the cycle of annual meetings and ability to plan meetings accordingly

-          Good knowledge of GDPR
