The CAN Group of companies are leading providers in engineering, integrity, inspection and maintenance solutions to the energy industry worldwide. The CAN Group is currently looking to recruit an experienced Inspection Engineer to work at an onshore gas terminal located at St Fergus, Peterhead, Scotland.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated significant relevant industry knowledge with a minimum of five years’ experience of in-service inspection and assessment of pressure systems.

The successful candidate must possess the following:

Qualifications:

  • United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) RG2 Category 3 (or above) Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards this)
  • A combination of two of the following: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Level 2 Plant Inspection, API 570 Piping Inspector or API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT) qualifications including PCN Level 2 in ultrasonic (plate and pipe).

Skills and experience:

  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Effective leadership skills
  • Well-developed negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of relevant standards relative to the oil & gas industry, equipment and processes
  • Knowledge of NDT and the principles of risk-based inspection methodologies
  • Knowledge of degradation mechanisms relative to the oil & gas industry
  • Knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR)
  • Competence in use of computer packages (Microsoft Office, etc)
  • Positive approach to compliance issues (quality, health and safety)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritise work effectively
  • Good time management skills
  • All-round skills and related technical competency
  • Proficient report writing skills
  • Flexible approach to work.

The successful candidate should live within commuting distance of CAN’s Aberdeen office and hold a full UK driving licence.
