We are looking for a motivated and skilled researcher to join our team working on innovative vibration energy harvesting technologies. The role will involve developing devices to convert traffic-induced vibrations into electrical energy through piezoelectric, electromagnetic, pyroelectric or triboelectric mechanisms. You will employ numerical simulation tools to model and optimise the harvester design for maximizing power output. Extensive experimental work will also be conducted to build prototypes and evaluate real-world performance when subjected to vibration sources. The position offers the opportunity to significantly advance sustainable vibration energy harvesting technology through modelling, testing, and field experiments. This is a chance to push clean energy research forward and make an impact.
You must have (or close to obtaining) a PhD in Engineering, Physics or Material Science or a closely related subject. A strong background in energy harvesting, vibrations, FEM and multiphysics simulation, instrumentation, and material and electrical characterization techniques is essential. Expertise in areas such as power electronics, electromagnetics, and embedded systems is highly desirable. In addition, the candidate should be a good communicator being able to work as part of a team and in collaboration with industrial partners, with good inter-personal skills.
The position is available for 12 months in the first instance.
