Job description
Enthusiastic, reliable and experienced class assistant required to support students aged 4-16 with personalised maths, English and science tuition programmes at our learning centre in Sunderland during term time.
Duties:
To assist the Centre Manager in the setting of a student's class work and homework.
To support students through their individual learning programmes, giving explanations and demonstrations of concepts where required.
To accurately mark, provide constructive feedback and record progress of student's work in accordance with set guidelines.
To build and maintain positive working relationships with other staff and parents.
To manage parent enquiries informatively.
To attend supervision, training and meetings as and when required. There may be a necessity for these to be outside of normal working hours.
The tuition sessions are generally after school and on Saturday mornings as detailed below. However, there may be additional hours available during the day. The number of sessions/hours candidates apply for is flexible.
Mondays 4.00-6.00pm
Saturdays 11.00-12.30pm
The successful candidate will ideally have A levels/higher qualifications in the core subjects (maths/English/science) and experience of supporting students with the National Curriculum.
A friendly, approachable and professional manner with excellent communication skills is a necessity.
The post is subject to a check being carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) regarding any previous criminal record.
