In Service Support Technician
Barnstaple (with a mix of office and home-based working)

The In Service Support Technician provides assistance to engineering teams working throughout the lifecycle of a variety of equipment and products in Defence and Non-Defence applications. Particularly during installation, commissioning & decommissioning, tests & trials, repairs, maintenance and other in-service activities.

What you’ll be doing
• Assist in the repair, modification, installation and commissioning/decommissioning of Naval and Non-Naval equipment.
• Respond to short-notice callouts (including working offsite for extended periods and outside of normal working hours if necessary)
• Work offshore/overseas supporting activities as required.
• Work within and comment on suitability and accuracy of Equipment Handbooks (BRs).
• Occasionally and where appropriate, provide technical support to the customer including via the Helpdesk.
• Support the production team on electrical, electronic, electro/mechanical, fluid power, mechanical engineering and general assembly skills.
• Work on-board ships, submarines, in dockyards and other Naval establishments and in accordance with MoD and/or Dockyard working practices and procedures.

The skills you need
• Possess good and develop communication skills; written, verbal, etc.
• Work with ISSEs, Work Package & Project Managers to provide accurate progress reports and escalate emergent risks and issues.
• Demonstrate good working practice and exhibit SEA values and ways of working.
• Look for and report opportunities to expand our business.
• Support the writing of reports on activities undertaken and the production of other technical documents.
• Be proficient at working on, electrical, electronic, electro/mechanical, fluid power systems. Especially in fault diagnostics, cabinet, PEC multicore wiring, cable terminations and connectors.
• Be confident and credible to the team, peers and customers.
• Share knowledge and best practice, continually developing theirs and the team’s capabilities.
• Pursue and develop skills, expertise, qualifications and experience to enable progression to ISSE.
