ST ANDREWS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL-1

Location

Thailand | United Kingdom

Job description

"Our mission is to provide an inclusive, international education in a safe, happy, supportive and stimulating environment where all the needs of the individual learner are met. Students are inspired to be the best they can be, enabling them to become responsible global citizens."

Humanities teacher with Geography, History or Global Politics

Geography and History are popular subjects at St. Andrews and we are looking for an experienced teacher to join the Humanities team. Class sizes are small and the students are motivated and enthusiastic, enjoying a lively approach to the subject through a wide range of teaching and learning techniques. The ideal candidate will convey enthusiasm for the subject and contribute collaboratively in the continued development of the curriculum from Year 7 to Year 13.

Geography and History are taught to students in Key Stage 3 as part of our new integrated Humanities course in Year 7, 8 and 9, which also includes aspects of Business, Economics and Psychology in Year 9. At Key Stage 4, most students choose to study at least one Humanities subject, chosen from Geography, Business Studies, Economics and History, with many students choosing to study two or three. These subjects then continue into Key Stage 5, where all subjects are offered as part of the IB Diploma Programme, together with Global Politics. Experience teaching IGCSE and/or IB Geography or History and/or IB Global Politics would be a significant advantage.

At St Andrews, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive school, and have an excellent reputation for supporting children with special educational needs. Experience of teaching children with dyslexia, mild autism, ADHD etc. would be very good prior experience for a teacher wishing to join our team. Our Mission Statement commits us to meeting ‘all the needs of the individual learner’, and this applies equally to those students targeting the very highest grades at IGCSE and IB.

All classrooms have data projectors and access to the internet, and there is a strong commitment to integrating the teaching and use of ICT skills into all areas of the curriculum, where appropriate, with all students bringing a tablet or laptop to school.

As well as their teaching, all teachers are also expected to contribute positively to both the school’s pastoral systems and the extra-curricular programme, offering an Extra-Curricular Activity that either supports or extends the students’ learning in their subject area, or from another area of personal interest.

St Andrews is committed to ensuring the safety of all our students, and expects all staff to share the same commitment (see our Child Protection Code of Conduct). No teacher will be appointed without at least two references, including one from the most recent employer, a ten year criminal record check and relevant regional Prohibition Order/DBS checks.

The closing date for applications is Friday 26th April 2024 , with applications being reviewed as they are received.
