Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday (8am-5pm - flexibility required)
Salary: £40,000-£50,000 (dependent on experience)
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Technical Manager to support the day to day running of site technical functions including retailer relationships, site standards, food safety and quality manual and managing the quality team by:
- Lead the main external audits on site.
- Organise the QA operatives to ensure that all planned duties, checks, and tests are conducted on time. (including risk assessments to tasks and hols).
- Keep the Quality Manual for the business up to date incorporating scheduled reviews, conduct code of practice analysis, audit non-conformance analysis, packaging reviews, self-assessment questionnaire management, supplier management, traceability, calibration, and document controls.
- High-Care controls including food safety risk assessments, segregation, improvement plans and product / process validation.
- Keep up to date with legislation.
- Investigate customer complaints and respond where required in a timely manner.
- Communicate with customers where required.
- Ensure customer specific specifications are maintained, including QAS’s.
- Monitor hygiene standards and action where required.
- Monitor microbiological sampling results and report / action where required, including trending. (lab contact).
- Liaise with the site Pest Control Management contractor, including reviews.
- Ensure the site internal audit system is maintained.
- Assist with the training of the Quality Team.
- HACCP/VACCP/TACCP team leader.
- Own Listeria management plan and controls.
- To interact with the workforce to ensure improved understanding and awareness of quality issues. (including Quality Culture).
- Conduct performance / disciplinary counselling where appropriate.
- Escalate any serious issues to Head of Technical / Leadership team.
- Any other tasks as assigned by direct manager.
Skills, Knowledge & experience
- Minimum 5 years in a quality / technical role within manufacturing or packaging environment.
- Education to degree level or equivalent.
- Experience of cross functional team working.
- Well developed coaching and influencing skills at all levels of business and departmental functions including external organisations.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Problem-solving aptitude.
- Experience of Retailer/Industry audits.
- HACCP Level 3 Qualification minimum.
- Hygiene Level 3 Qualification minimum.
