Pride Veterinary Centre - Referral Specialists
Permanent, Full time and/or Part time
Posted on 10/01/2024
If you are passionate about delivering high-quality anaesthesia care in a collaborative and supportive environment, then this is the role for you. You will be a vital part of our team, ensuring exceptional anaesthesia and pain management!
Our anaesthesia specialists participate in the daily clinical responsibilities of managing anaesthesia and sedation for patients. They provide support to other departments for pain management and critical care, along with offering after-hours emergency coverage. The team encounters a diverse range of captivating cases, predominantly involving dogs and cats, with the occasional inclusion of exotic animals. Additionally, there is an on-site pain clinic managed by a Dip.ECVAA member. The anaesthesia team conducts weekly tutorials and journal clubs, while the hospital hosts a weekly clinical club covering various topics and provides frequent in-house Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.
Pride Veterinary Centre serves as the primary small animal hospital within the Scarsdale Veterinary Group, managing a workforce of over 300 professionals spread across 12 locations in the Midlands. Our comprehensive range of specialised services includes anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, exotics, and dermatology. Additionally, we provide on-site hydrotherapy and physiotherapy facilities.
Our exceptional facilities comprise 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, a comprehensive advanced imaging suite featuring a 16-slice CT and 1.5T MRI, 3 ultrasound rooms, capabilities in interventional radiology and cardiology, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool, and treadmills. The cutting-edge hospital is equipped to deliver round-the-clock veterinary care, bolstered by a committed night team. We foster a collaborative relationship with the University of Nottingham, where veterinary students undergo rotations in both first opinion and referral services at Pride.
We are located at the edge of Derby city centre, with good transport links to major cities via road and rail network. East Midlands Airport and Birmingham International Airport offer convenient access to domestic and international destinations. The beautiful Peak District is just around the corner where there is lots of walking, climbing, and sightseeing opportunities.
The experienced, friendly team of 100+ veterinary professionals at Pride deliver specialist-led care across all disciplines, collaborating to provide the best possible outcome for all our patients.
The team provides referral services to external veterinary professionals and to our own first opinion vets. Alongside this, there is a Vets at Night service, dedicated leadership structure and support functions such as Client Care, HR and Marketing on-site.
We are looking for a referral clinician who is ready for a fresh challenge in a welcoming and exciting environment. You will have the passion and skills to care for patients, customers, and colleagues alike, and be an integral part of a truly multidisciplinary team. To be successful, you will be a ECVAA/ACVAA specialist or residency trained clinician in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia.
Full time colleagues work a 4-day week, and the normal working pattern is subject to agreement. There is a requirement to take part in out of hours and weekend cover, shared across the team. Working hours to be agreed but "standard" day is 8:00 - 17:30 with 1 hour lunch unpaid.
